Are you ready to take the next step in your sewing adventure, but not quite sure how to decipher the symbols and instructions on a commercial sewing pattern? This intro workshop will help you gain confidence in cutting, sewing, and (to some extent) modifying existing patterns!
This isn’t a sewing class, so we won’t actually be sewing during the workshop. Instead, I’ll have a selection of patterns (vintage and modern) and we’ll go over the vocabulary that might have you stumped, examine the various symbols and markings, and will discuss best practices in terms of cutting, pinning, and sewing. It will be assumed that you have some sewing skills.
No materials necessary, but if you have questions about a specific pattern, you’re welcome to bring it along. You may also want to bring a notebook to take notes, if that’s helpful for your learning style.
